Landed in Jeddah, heading to Madinah first
Many visitors choose to begin with Madinah before Makkah, landing at King Abdulaziz International in Jeddah and driving north straight away. It is a long transfer of about 420 km on the Al Hijrah highway, usually around four and a half to five hours including stops. After a long flight, the last thing you want is to hunt for transport or switch vehicles with all your luggage.
With Umrah Taxi your driver is in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. We track your flight, you get 60 minutes of free waiting after landing, and then you head directly to the door of your Madinah hotel.
The fare
| Jeddah Airport → Madinah hotels | Fare (SAR per car) |
|---|---|
| Sedan | 500 |
| Family SUV / van | 700 |
| VIP | 1000 |
The fare covers the whole car whatever the number of passengers within its capacity. No prepayment; you pay on arrival. Other routes are in the fares guide.
What about ihram?
If Madinah is your first stop and you have not yet made the intention for Umrah, many scholars hold that you do not need to enter ihram on arrival in Jeddah in this case; you enter it later at the miqat of Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali) when travelling from Madinah to Makkah. If you are unsure about your situation, ask someone knowledgeable before you travel.
The road and stops
- Prayer and rest: there are plenty of service stations on the Al Hijrah highway, and the driver stops for prayer or food whenever you ask.
- Children and elderly travellers: on a drive this long, the family vehicle gives everyone more room to stretch.
- Hotel arrival: entrances of hotels near the Prophet’s Mosque can be congested around prayer times, so the driver drops you at the closest permitted point and helps with the bags.
What to send when booking
