Leaving Madinah, heading for Jeddah
After days near the Prophet’s Mosque, the time comes to leave. Some travellers are bound for Jeddah airport and home, others are stopping in Jeddah to see family or spend a few days by the sea. Either way it is a long-ish drive of about 420 km, usually around four and a half hours. With Umrah Taxi it starts at your hotel door.
Fares (per car)
| Destination | Sedan | Family | VIP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Madinah to Jeddah (hotel or address) | 450 SAR | 700 SAR | 1000 SAR |
| Madinah to Jeddah Airport | 450 SAR | 700 SAR | 1000 SAR |
The price covers the whole car, however many passengers ride within its capacity, and is paid to the driver on arrival with no prepayment. Other fares are in our fares guide.
If you are going to Jeddah airport
What matters most is your flight time. We work out when to leave Madinah so you reach the airport well before departure, with room for stops and for traffic coming into Jeddah. Send us your flight time and terminal and we will suggest the hour to set off. In busy seasons, do not leave booking to the last minute.
If you are going into Jeddah
The driver takes you straight to your hotel or your relatives’ address. After that you can get around town with our Jeddah taxi service. And if you later decide to visit Makkah from Jeddah, see our taxi from Jeddah to Makkah page.
A note if you intend Umrah
If your plan is to pass through Jeddah and then go to Makkah for Umrah, remember that the miqat for travellers leaving Madinah is Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali), on the way out of the city, so ihram should normally be entered there. If Makkah is your main destination, it is usually simpler to go there directly with our Madinah to Makkah taxi.
What to have ready
- Your hotel name, room number and checkout time.
- Your bag count. Return luggage is usually heavier than on arrival, thanks to gifts and dates.
- Water and a light snack, even though the driver will stop at stations whenever you ask.
