A Short Trip That Needs Good Timing
Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport is not far from the Prophet's Mosque, roughly 15 to 20 km, and the drive itself is short at normal times. But the central area around the Haram gets very crowded before and after prayers, especially Friday prayer, in Ramadan and in holiday seasons, so timing matters more than distance. Umrah Taxi agrees a pickup time with you that works around prayer times and your flight; the driver comes to your hotel and helps with the bags.
Choosing Your Pickup Time
- Work back from your flight: airlines generally advise about two hours before domestic flights and about three before international ones.
- Avoid the post-prayer rush: a pickup right as prayer ends means heavy congestion around the hotels. Go well before the adhan or once the crowds have dispersed.
- Pray, then go: many visitors like to pray one last time at the Prophet's Mosque before leaving; tell us and we will plan around it.
- Extra margin on Fridays: traffic around the Haram on Fridays is nothing like the rest of the week.
Where You Meet the Driver
Every hotel in the central area has a different entrance and parking set-up, and traffic on some roads near the mosque is controlled at peak times. So we ask for your hotel name and location, and the driver agrees the best meeting point with you: the hotel door or the nearest spot where a car can stop.
The Fare
The fare is per car, not per passenger, and depends on your hotel's location and the vehicle class. We do not publish a figure for this direction, so we confirm the fare on WhatsApp before you book; you pay on arrival at the airport with no prepayment.
| Class | Suits |
|---|---|
| Sedan | Up to three passengers with normal luggage |
| Family SUV / van | Families, lots of bags and Zamzam containers |
| VIP | Elderly travellers and anyone wanting more comfort |
Coming Back to Madinah Another Time?
On a future visit we can meet you at the airport with a name sign, flight tracking and sixty minutes of free waiting after landing. More on getting around the city is on our Madinah taxi page.
Flying From Jeddah Instead?
If your ticket is from Jeddah Airport, the trip is a long intercity drive. See Madinah hotels to Jeddah Airport. If you are going to Makkah, see Madinah to Makkah taxi.
How to Book
- Send your hotel name, flight number and departure time to WhatsApp +966551796487.
- Add passengers, bags and any prayer you want to make before leaving.
- We suggest a pickup time and confirm the fare, then send the driver's name and number.
Going On to Makkah by Air or Train?
Some visitors travel from Madinah to Makkah by plane, some by train and others by car. If you are continuing to Makkah for Umrah, remember that the miqat for those in or passing through Madinah is Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali), so plan your ihram around your mode of travel and ask how best to manage it. By car, the road passes the miqat directly; details are on the Madinah to Makkah taxi page.
Ramadan and Peak Seasons
During Ramadan and holiday periods the central area fills with visitors and it takes longer to get out, especially before Maghrib and after Taraweeh. If you are travelling at these times, book early and leave a bigger gap than usual between pickup and departure.
